Charles Hamilton: The Re-Introduction (Digiwaxx Music Meeting)
Submitted by Fivefold on Fri, 05/14/2010 - 02:50The good folks at Digiwaxx recently sat down with Charles Hamilton for their 'music meeting' series, who had been missing in action for some time. But now, with a new single bubbling up, "Gauchos", and (hopefully) an album on the way, the Harlemnite had much to discuss. The shinding was dubbed a re-introduction and that sounds just about right.
A great artist plagued by his own "issues", label "issues", relationship "issues", media "issues"...you get the point. So instead of focusing on JUST Charles' music this meeting served as an introduction to the pseudo-new Charles Hamilton with every question asked and answered.
VV Brown Yellow Cab Sessions
Submitted by Fivefold on Sat, 04/17/2010 - 16:54These days, if you're looking for fresh talent, you might wanna look accross the Atlantic and peruse the pop scene in Great Britain. The track record speaks for itself: Craig David, Jay Sean, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Taio Cruz and Lily Allen are just a few that have blazed thru the charts stateside. And there's more... VV Brown is sure to join the ranks. The singer/songwriter's debut album, Travelling Like The Light, is being released in the US and she's been on a promotion tour (with Little Dragon) lately. While in New York City, she taped some acoustic versions of her singles while riding around the city in a yellow cab -- they do that in the UK apparently. I also added some bedroom cover renditions. For more , make sure you get yourself the album.

It's a behind the scenes of sorts, only it doesn't necessarily leads to an end-product, like say, a video or an album. Here is footage from a recent discussion panel during the Taiwanese American Students Association at Columbia University. The event panel featured the likes of Jin, Dave Liang, Miss Info, Illmind and Rik Cordero who tackled the ups and downs of working in the entertainment industry as an Asian American.
The Revival
Submitted by Fivefold on Mon, 01/04/2010 - 05:07Here's a very informative documentary on the plight of the female emcee. Directed by Detroit's Invicible, produced by Emergence Media and El Iqaa and presented in Conjunction with The Fembassy.
The Revival gives a candid glimpse into the first meeting of legendary Hip-Hop pioneer Roxanne Shante and veteran Philly emcee Bahamadia, as they trade stories of their struggles and triumphs in the industry over their long careers. It shows the exchange of lessons between them and up-and-coming artists DJ Shortee, Eternia, Stacy Epps, and Invincible. This short documentary, a collage of performances and behind the scenes footage, was filmed by Invincible while on the road in Europe as part of We-B Girlz all women independent Hip-Hop tour. The largest all female Hip-Hop tour of its kind, it spanned over three weeks, six countries, and featured dozens of female artists who performed for tens of thousands of supporters
