ScholarMan & Jonesy - Hood Stories: The Remixes EP

ScholarMan & Jonesy - Hood Stories: The Remixes EP

From what I understand, the ScholarMan-Jonesy pair worked together on an EP last year entitled, Distant Voices - the link for that is after the jump. Off of that good work, Jonesy got a chance to rework ScholarMan's "Hood Stories" four-part series that spanned his past four albums. A brand new fifth track was added to round up this EP. Tracklist and all that good stuff after the jump...

How Dare You: Platter III

Over a month has passed since the last platter. There's been a flood of goodies since and I shall do my best to bring as many as possible to the fore. For this edition, I got a Black Milk leftover from his forthcoming opus, Album of the Year. I dug two World Cup-inspired joints to egg on the Nigerian and Ghanaian squads -- too bad it didn't last long, but we hail Ghana for making the continent proud. Finally, we let the ladies smooth things out: Dondria's first single marinated with some Bootsy Collins and Kelis treats us with a live cover of La Roux. Dig in!

Bang It Out: Platter II

Like I said before, there's only so much time in a day to go through all the music that comes to my inbox. Factor in my hectic day job activities and a lot of the submissions don't even get some shine. That's where the platter comes in: a selection of cuts that have been dying to make your ear drums pop. I repeat myself because this second platter has been long overdue. Here's what to expect: Ab-Soul goes in and goes off on "MayDay"; Consequence tags himself into Drake's "Find Your Love"; Toki Wright channels his inner Public Enemy; and the grittiest record comes courtesy of D/Will and Dominique Larue.

M64 & Grillade - In The Pocket (Remix)

M64 & Grillade - In The Pocket (Remix)

Grillade is pronounced gree-yahd! Grillade brings together three promising acts: Ragen Fykes, The Park and Keelay. As of how they came Grillade came to be...

Before Grillade was actually a band, project or even a concept, Ragen Fykes was visiting the Bay Area. The plan was to meet up with Ragen maybe grab some food and hang out. What actually ended up happening is Keelay and long time friends and collaborators The Park eventually found themselves at Bird and Egg Studios along with Ms. Fykes. That night there was no plans of making anything specific, rather just wanted to make whatever came to mind. What actually did come to mind is this remake of M64's "In the Pocket". Since then Ragen Fykes, The Park and Keelay have embarked on a full length project calling themselves Grillade. Here is a taste of what is to come mixed with some good old M64. It has truly been an honor to collaborate with M64 and Record Breaking to bring you this remix.

Demarco - Show It: The Remixes

Demarco - Show It

Summer is practically here. The beaches and park are soon gonna get crowded again. The bodegas are stocking up on the heladas. The ladies are lining up their sunflower dresses, sandals and swimsuits... And the music has to fit into this more light-hearted, happier, feeling sexier mood. No matter the genre. Ever watched that Iyaz "Replay" video? That's what I'm talking about. And "Show It" falls into that vein. Jamaican-born Demarco wears many hats (producer, songwriter) but this is his first minor hit as lead artist. And it spawned a few bootleg remixes with the likes of 2 Pistols and Sheek Louch. They're all here; pick your poison and enjoy! I also got a bonus joint that keeps up with the theme.

Dub MD - Se7en Deadly Sins

Dub MD - Se7en Deadly Sins

My fellow Leo Dub MD is preparing a new EP for the summer: The Requiem EP. As you can expect from a Dub MD project, it involves some of the best underground talent. Those in need of proof should look no further than the first leak. "Se7en Deadly Sins" is a Judah-produced firebomb with seven fiery sixteens from Laelo Hood, Sic Osyrus, Dominique Larue, Singapore Kane, Junclassic, Mr. Live and Sha Stimuli. Sleep at your own risk.

Joell Ortiz - Call Me (1990s "25 & Over" Remix feat. Novel)

Joell Ortiz - Call Me

Let me give you a background on this joint. "Call Me" is the first single to Joell's upcoming album, Free Agent. It's about teenage love and heartbreak centered around 1995 -- the video treatment drives that point home. Joell Ortiz planned to have two remixes for this throwback. The "25 and Over" mix (produced by Statik Selektah) enhances the story with a backdrop of Biggie, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Souls of Mischief and Smif-N-Wessun classics. A "25 and Under" mix with Diggy Simmons and Wiz Khalifa was also in the plans but, it seems Atlantic didn't deem it a good look for Diggy. But Joell fans should soon be satiated: Yaowa mixtape with DJ Green Lantern and Don Cannon is on the way!

YahZarah - Why Dontcha Call Me No More

YahZarah - Why Dontcha Call Me No More

Here's a doozy produced by the Foreign Exchange guys (Phonte and Nicolay). This is YahZarah's first single off her upcoming debut, The Ballad of Purple St. James, due out May 4th on Foreign Exchange Music. Phonte says, "Working on this album cost us a lot of time and effort (and damn near cost me a kidney... lol), but I can't think of any single person whose humility and raw talent deserves it more." Enjoy!

Here's Kardi's latest single off the upcoming Mr. International. This one features the bossman Akon and is clearly targeted for the clubs all over the world. Mr. International indeed!

Jared Evan - Frozen Remix

Jared Evan - Frozen (Remix feat. Freddie Gibbs & Rich Boy)

This was to be expected: Jared Evan enlists some muscle for the remix of "Frozen". Labelmate Rich Boy and XXL 2010 Freshman Freddie Gibbs tag some solid bars to the head-nodder. You just can't be mad at that, can you? Enjoy!
